“I’d like to refocus everyone’s attention away from the Kardashians and onto Doctors Without Borders or aid workers. Let’s redefine scandal. Scandal is not who so-and-so is dating; scandal is the fact that 1.2 million people are still living in tents in Haiti, and cholera is rampant because Nepalese U.N. soldiers dumped shit from their Porta-Potties into the river. That’s a fucking scandal. If the average 15-year-old was hearing about that instead of so-and-so’s plastic surgery or cheating in Hollywood, I’d feel better about our future.”—Olivia Wilde to Marie Claire (via damnedifyoudontdamnedifyoudo)
We (consultingtrickster and surlelac) are planning to raise money for Random Acts. In our infinate wisdom, we have decided that we should do a crafty sale.
At the moment we’re thinking of folding a thousand paper cranes and selling them for either a dollar or 50 cents a piece. The bigger ones would be worth a bit more. (The thousand cranes would follow along with the Japanese legend that folding a thousand cranes brings good luck and makes your wish come true.)
We would be hoping to have the event in Boston (provided we can find a space etc) and would love to have people join us. The more the merrier, obviously and hopefully we could raise more money with more people. For those who don’t know how to fold cranes but want to participate, surlelac can teach you or you could man the donate box/flag down donors.
Does that sound like a good way to raise money for it? Should we charge different amounts? Should we sell other things? ANY COMMENTS ARE WELCOME.
“I’ve been accused of not being macho enough to direct the Avengers. Oh yeah, that’s right. Well guess what: I happen to be very macho, so if you see me in a bar and you don’t think I’m macho, don’t talk to me. You walk away unless you want a cosmo all down your shirt. ‘Cause I will. I will pour it.”—
